KPSC Recruitment 2013 - Excise Sub- Inspectors and Excise Guards


KPSC Excise Sub- Inspectors and Excise Guards :


Karnataka Public Service Commission  (KPSC) issued the notification about the filling up the recruitment of  550 vacancies of  Excise Sub-Inspectors and Excise Guards post  by Online Application mode. 

Last  Date:  09 January , 2013 (online Registration)

Qualification:   Graduation OR S.S.L.C or  its Equivalent 

Name & Number:


Excise Sub-Inspectors - 200 posts  
Excise Guards (Men & women ) - 350 posts

Educational Qualification :


  For Excise Sub-Inspector post :  Applying candidates must have Graduation Degree in any discipline from recognized University or Institutions. 

 For Excise Guards post : Applying candidates have S.S.L.C or its equivalent from govt recognized institutions. 

Age Limit : 


21 Years - 26 Years as on 09 January 2013 (Age relaxation for reserved category and ex-serviceman candidates)

Selection Process: 


Candidates will be selected on the basis of Written Exam and personal Interview.

KAS Main Exam 2012 Result


KAS Main 2012 result.



KPSC conducted gazetted probationers Main exam from Dec 15th 2012 to Jan 6th  2013. The exam started with compulsory Kannada and English on 15th of December and ended with Kannada Literature (Other literature subjects) optional subject on 6th of Jan 2013.  Around 6800 people were qualified for main exam this year. I heard 400 people were absent for main exam. Best wishes to all those who wrote main exam this time.

The result of KPSC KAS exam 2012 will be announced before 18th of Feb 2013* (According to some source which is not confirmed yet). But it is only vague news. Ideally result should come before last week of Feb 2013.

KAS Main 2012 over.



KPSC conducted gazetted probationers Main exam from Dec 15th 2012 to Jan 6th  2013. The exam started with compulsory Kannada and English on 15th of December and ended with Kannada Literature (Other literature subjects) optional subject on 6th of Jan 2013.  Around 6800 people were qualified for main exam this year. I heard 400 people were absent for main exam. Best wishes to all those who wrote main exam this time. I also wrote main exam this year, my optional subjects were "Public Administration" and "Rural development & Co - Operation". 

There is  information from string reliable source that result will be announced by second week of Feb 2013, and there will be fresh notification for 267 posts by March 2013. 

About the exam papers in this year main exam : General studies was lengthy paper, could not cover 600 marks, many attempted only for 500 marks. Public Administration was a general paper, even though people wrote answers for 550 to 600 marks it wont be scoring subject this year* (It is my opinion ) . Rural development & Co - Operation was bit difficult this year than last year. There were many questions which were unfamiliar. Data was asked in many cases (NSSO data about poverty ) and there was a question about misconduct in some GramaPanchayath in Dakshina Kannada district which most of the people did not know*, so we could say there were many questions from out of syllabus in "Rural development and Co - Operation this year" :) .. 



People have to write about other optional subjects that they wrote. I will update the blog once I get info about other optional subjects.

KAS Exam 2013

KAS Exam 2013 :

KAS mains exam is over now. It was scheduled from 15th of December 2012 to 6th of Jan 2013. This is the time to think about next notification for KAS exam. There are strong news from reliable source that KPSC is ready for next round of KAS batch. Notification may arrive in a month. It will be for 267 posts both group A and Group B.

About KAS :

K.A.S. is acronym for Karnataka Administrative Service. Persons who are selected in these service do administration of state. It is equivalent to IAS of central (Union) government of India. Candidates are selected by written examination followed by group discussion and personal interview. The candidates selected are generally known as Gazetted officers. These officers hold important posts in administration of Karnataka state. They can be said as law making and implementing persons. Normally posts held by these officers wield tremendous power.

Prior to 1921, there was no Central Authority constituted in the State to advise Government and other Appointing Authorities in the matters of recruitment to the   state civil services. Government and Appointing Authorities were  making appointments in accordance with the principles laid down by  Government from time to time.  Through order No. 1827:80 E.A.G.308, dated:16-05-1921, the Government constituted for the first time a central agency for recruitments, named “Central Recruitment Board”. This Board was attached to the office of the Government Secretariat till 1940.  Government appointed a Public Service Commissioner for the State in its Order No. 3685-3735-C.B. 103-39-1, dated: 19-01-1940.
             The Public Service Commission was constituted under the provisions of the  Constitution of India on 18-05-1951. In accordance with the provisions of clause 14 of the Public Service Commission Regulations 1950, the staff of the Public Service Commissioner as it stood  on 18-05-1951, was continued as the nucleus of the staff of the Public Service Commission.
             The Office of the Central Recruitment Board which was a part of Mysore (Now Karnataka) Government Secretariat followed the Government Secretariat  Manual, for  office procedures. This  was continued even in the office of the Public Service Commissioner and later in the office of the Public Service Commission with necessary notifications to carry out recruitment and conduct of Competitive Examinations, Departmental Examinations etc.,
             In accordance with clause-III of the Mysore Public Service Commission, Regulations 1950, His Highness  was pleased to appoint Sri. H.B. Gundappa Gowda, as Chairman, Sri George Matthan,  and Sri H.M. Mallikarjunappa,   as Members of the Commission. The Chairman and Members assumed charge on the 19th, 23rd and 25th May 1951, respectively.  Since then, 13 Chairmen and 67 Members have been appointed to the Commission by Government.
             The Office of the Public Service Commission was located in the “United India” buildings, Bangalore City, till 20-05-1951.  Since the accommodation fell short of the actual requirements of the Commission, its office was shifted to “Balabrooie”, on Palace Road, Bangalore, on 21st May 1951 and remained  there  upto 7th  November 1956. Later it was shifted to the north wing of  “ Atarakacheri” a portion of the High Court Building and continued there upto  January  1968.  Thereafter it was shifted to the present  premises of  “Park House” situated on the north west  side of  Vidhana Soudha.  
            The Commission celebrated its “Golden Jubilee” on 01-03-2002  and foundation stone was laid for the construction of a new building for the Commission.   The building was inaugurated on 19-11-2005 and at present the office is functioning in the new building called "Udyoga Soudha".  
             Further as a mark of completion of 60 years of its service, the Commission celebrated its “Diamond Jubilee” on 18-05-2011. To Commemorate this celebration, foundation stone was laid for construction of one more new building known as “Vajra Mahotsava Soudha” in the premises  of the office to cater  the growing need and to serve the people in general and the candidates in particular more effectively.
