General Studies–I 250Marks
(Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society)
Paper-III
General Studies –II 250 Marks
(Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations)
Paper-IV
General Studies –III 250 Marks
(Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management)
Paper-V
General Studies –IV 250 Marks
(Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude)
Paper-VI
Optional Subject – Paper 1 250 Marks
Paper-VII
Optional Subject – Paper 2 250 Marks
Sub Total (Written test) 1800 Marks
Personality Test 275 Marks.
Grand Total 2075 Marks
List of Optional subjects are divided into 2 groups. Where group 1 contains all other subjects, group 2 contains all Literature subjects. There is only 1 optional subjects, student can choose any optional if it is from group 1 ,a candidate can choose a subject as optional form group 2 only if the candidate has graduated in the literature of that particular language as the main subjec.

Last date to apply is 4th April 2013.

KPSC might also change the pattern of KPSC main examination in line with UPSC. In previous cases also KPSC had made the changes to keep the pattern in line with that of UPSC. In 2011 KPSC had changed the syllabus of preliminary exam to make pattern similar to the one UPSC fallows .. so fellow aspirants keep your finger crossed until KPSC notify for the fresh batch with changes in the pattern (if any) .. I heard from some candidates that KPSC was waiting for UPSC to notify the changes so that KPSC could fallow the same .. Any way new changes are in the right direction towards achieving complete equality ..
