As per the experience with this year (2012-2013) RD question paper, there was a question about a Grama Panchayath in Dakshina kannada district. I think only few people knew that it was a misconduct case and The Grama Panchayath was in news for the same with a petition in Karnataka High court (we came to know after exam). So it is better to concentrate on the news some how related to subject.
